The 13th and 14th October 2012 will be held the 3rd French national Short-toed Eagle meeting in Florac (Lozère) – centre of the Cévennes National Park /map/.
This gathering of French specialists will be open to any foreign colleagues who want to participate.
Program
Saturday 13th oct / from 9h30 until evening : indoor conferences.
Sunday 14th oct / outdoor visit : on the high limestone plateaux on the Lozère Causses.

Such, already traditional, meetings are important for establishing closer contacts between the Short-toed Eagle watchers from different regions of France and also of other countries belonging to the range of this magnificient bird.
Dear Circaetus gallicus lovers and researchers! Let us, please, invite you to contribute your photos (info@short-toed-eagle.net) of the Eagles of age and sex known for certain. These photos will be inserted into the special gallery which has been created on initiative of Francesco Petretti. We aim to make something like an online handbook to help to describe differences between sexes and ages of Short-toed Eagle and finally to make their field identification easier. Each contributed photo should be supplied with information, examples of which can already be seen below each inserted image.
The map of known breeding territories of Short-toed Eagles is published on the Home Ranges Map page. Used KMZ file can be downloaded and edited in Google Earth. Anyone may add data. Read please some simple rules of working with the file. Locations of Short-toed Eagle home ranges are marked with special semi-opaque coloured circles.
A projected model of the plumage changing for Short-toed Eagle has been made by me for discussion and rectification by comments from the practising observers. This aims to make easier field recognizing of different ages of Short-toed Eagles for birdwatchers.

This document describes the problem of relationships between man and bird regarding methods of the colour marking. The text is available in French and in English now. As Short-toed Eagle researchers use the colour ringing and the alar marking methods in their work the question must be topical for them.
