This work was dedicated to geographical variations of Short-toed Eagle. The Circaetus gallicus heptneri subspecies was described in the article. It is more often considered now as a clinal variation, but however the article is still of interest and therefore it has been translated to English and to Russian with help of our friends.
This is just a message of Vincenzo Rizzo Pinna from Maremma Regional Park /map/: the first Short-toed Eagle chick hatched in the Park on May 22d in the observer’s estimation. In the video we can see the first moment when the chick was left alone in the nest for about 20 minutes. Thank you for the fresh news, Vincenzo!
A projected model of the plumage changing for Short-toed Eagle has been made by me for discussion and rectification by comments from the practising observers. This aims to make easier field recognizing of different ages of Short-toed Eagles for birdwatchers.

A new article on Short-toed Eagles’ demonstrative and hunting behaviour is presented here by kind consent of the author – Viktor Belik. The article is planed to be published in next issue of the Strepet ornithological journal. This is a generalized result of 40 years’ field observations.
