ST Eagles in the West African Bird DataBase

Short-toed Snake Eagle - Circaète Jean-le-Blanc on the WABDaB siteThis online database contains observations of birds in Western and Central Africa, including many records of Short-toed Eagles in Niger and Chad, i.e. in the traditional wintering area of the eagles from Europe and the Middle East. All records are linked to the map, some of them has photos taken in the wild, exporting data to MS Excel is available.

Short-toed Eagle adult female, by Marcin LenartThe Lublin Ornithology Society started their projects on GPS-GSM telemetry of local adult Short-toed Eagles in 2012. Some results of them are available on sites of the society, as well as conservation programs. Just use the Polish name of the species «Gadożer» as a search word to find info regarding Short-toeds in the submitted files:

Merged data on photographing Short-toed Eagles

Best photos of Short-toed Eagle on Birds of Northern EurasiaAskar Isabekov has merged data from different birdwatching websites on the Birds of Northern Eurasia portal. This database allows to monitor appearing new pictures and observations of various bird species in several countries of Northern Eurasia, including Short-toed Eagles. At least 3 out of currently 12 regional sites were mentioned on HoverOverUs before.

Staying in N France and migration in S Turkey

Two Short-toed Eagles together, Brassoir - 2016 / by Rémi MalignatHenry de Lestanville describes in his paper staying of 2 Short-toed Eagles at Brassoir in summer 2016 and the current status of the species in Picardy /map/:

An impressive number of ST Eagles migrating at Sarimazi, Southern Turkey /map/, in autumn 2018 is reported on the Egyptian Vulture New LIFE site: 10853. This raises a lot of questions about real strength of their streams from Eastern Europe. Many thanks to Gábor Papp for sharing!

 

Short-toed Eagle research projects in Croatia

The following paper by Ivan Budinski established principles of the local Short-toed Eagle population monitoring program in Croatia:

The author is one of Croatian researchers involved in the project of GPS tracking of Paško, the local young Short-toed Eagle. The map of the bird’s migratory movements is available online and regularly updated.

The first results of juvenile Short-toed Eagle tracking from the Telašćica Nature Park /map/ in Croatia are represented in the recent paper:
